I have two questions seeking answers from teachers here: 1. also about the silver bullet. remember I read a reply to a post about the silver bullet, in which mention is made of it being a joke. Could anyone please explain further about the joke? This might be a silly question. but I'm not a native speaker, so I can't catch the real connatation of the "silver bullet." 2. Here is another silly question: what is the Ghost of Christmas Past? Thanks very much!

1. Could you bring us up to speed on 'silver bullet'? I did not see the previous post. 2. The Ghost of Christmas Past - The first spirit to visit Scrooge, a curiously childlike apparition with a glowing head. He takes Scrooge on a tour of Christmases in his past. The spirit uses a cap to dampen the light emanating from his head. A Christmas Carol.

http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-sil1.htm In folklore, a silver bullet never misses its target, and is the only thing that can kill certain mythological creatures, like the Wolfman. The Lone Ranger never killed anyone, but after performing his marvelous feats, he did leave a silver bullet as a symbol that he'd been there.
