Are these sentences correct:
1-Didn't I try to call you a few times and your phone was out of order?
2-Didn't I try to call you a few times but your phone was out of order?
3-Did you ask for help yesterday and he didn't help you?
(Is it true that yoy asked for help yesterday and he didn't help you?)
Hello Navi
They sound a little odd to me, but would probably be fine in some dialects of English – perhaps Irish English, for instance.
I can't think how I would myself (as a bland BrE-speaker) phrase #1 and #2; but for #3 I would say:
3a. You asked for help yesterday and he didn't help you?
(For additional incredulity, you might preface the whole sentence with "You mean...")
Perhaps an AmE-speaker will pass by and give us another opinion!
