writing composition

I am a fresher in university.
I THINK writing composition is different for us chinese.
I wonder english-speaking is also has different in writing composition ?
I am just interested in it.
Can you tell me something?

A paragraph:
Topic: Cars
Topic sentence as a part of a paragraph body: Small cars have three advantages over large ones. Then: supporting arguments. Then: general conclusion supporting a topic sentence.

Essay:
A paragraph with a general itroduction on a topic given('cars'...norrowing...narrowing 'small cars'..till the thesis statement 'small cars are more environment friendly'. Then separate paragraphs on different arguments supporting the thesis statement. Then closing paragraph with conclusion on a thesis statement.
