| Why is this sentence grammatically incorrect. 'He robbed my handbag.' The correct being 'He stole my handbag' But how do I explain why 'Robbed' is incorrect. Urgent help needed!!! |

| To rob means to take something away forcefully, using threats or violence. from a person, place or organization. Correct: He robbed me of my handbag The bank has been robbed.(not 'the robbers robbed the money from the bank!) 'He stole my handbag' means something else - taking away something without the person knowing. |
