    Default How to correct it?

    Hi,

    Could somebody help me to correct this letter (in sentence structure and punctuation)?


    Attention : Mr. Ravi Malhotra
    Sales coordinator

    Subject : Acknowledgement

    Dear Sir,

    We are in receipt of your Purchase Order No. V0635 dated June 14, 2006. Thank you very much for your order.

    The letter looks fine to me, I see nothing wrong with it.
    I have some suggestions though:

    'Are in receipt of' is kind of dated. Why not use 'have received'.

    The letter would sound more positive to your customer if you could give them a bit more information like when the good will be delivered to them or what you plan to do with the purchase order

    2) Thanks.

    It depends on the variety of English- in British English, we don't use that much at all and stick to sincerely/faithfully. However, I agree that the letter should end with a more formal signing-off.
