    Default i am confused...

is it possible use the present form of the verb in the reported speech?

in the intermediate grammar book by raymund murphy, he clearly stated

that in reported speech transformation of verbs from the present to the past

    should be done...

    "he said"..

    he told sb"

however in one thread here, i saw...

    "he considers..."

    please help!~

A sentence which starts with 'he considers...' is NOT considered/classified as a 'reported speech'.

To consider something is to think about something rather than having anything to do with reporting.

Thje reporting verb doesn't always have to be in the past, though it normally is. It can even be in the future; politicians, for example, often gives details to the press about what they are going to say in a speech, so the reporting can begin before the talking.
