Publication (terminology)
Can the statements
"I hold the publication rights to my BA thesis."
and
"I hold the copyright on my BA thesis."
basically be used interchangeably?
Also, if you are holding a book in your hand that has come straight from the printers and has never been printed before, is it correct to say
"This is a first edition copy of the book." ?
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Rgs,
Bill

Your statements sound like they have the same meaning to me. As for the second question, I would prefer "This is a first edition of the book", but adding 'copy' does not make the sentence incorrect.

Re: Publication (terminology)
I just stumbled across another publication question.
Would it be best to omit the word in in the following sentence?:
"The book has sold (in) over 100 million copies".
Funny how these questions keep coming up ...
