Hi to everyone;
Is the verb ' Panic' regular or irregular verb?
It's regular but in many of its inflected forms a "k" is added to help with the pronunciation:
I/you/we/they panic
he/she/it panics
Past tense: panicked
Past participle: panicked
Present participle: panicking
This is because "paniced" and "panicing" would be pronounced differently.
'Panick' was actually the original spelling, as it was with similar words such as 'magick'. The 'k' was dropped as part of the English spelling regularisation of the 17th Century, but the participles were spared: hence we have present participles such as 'panicking', 'magicking' and 'politicking'.Originally Posted by rewboss
