Default The Usage Of 'mind' As A Verb

Hi, how are you?

I have got a question about the
usage of the verb mind.

Iīve always heard this verb IS used with the first person
of singular and plural but, for instance, what
about the second
person of singular (You) , and what about the
rest (He, You-plural, They)?

The sentence I wrote yesterday was:

YOU donīt mind me throwing my clothes
on the floor.

I think itīs grammaticaly correct but
I havenīt heard before that this verb, 'mind', goes
with other personal pronouns except
with 'I' and 'we'. Can it go with them? Is the sentence
correct then?

Thanks a million!

ex: You don't mind me throwing my clothes on the floor? <colloquial>
ex: You don't mind my throwing my clothes on the floor? <standard>

mind (verb)
  1. To object to; dislike: to mind doing the chores.
I mind
you mind
s/he minds
it minds
we mind
they mind

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot, Casiopea!

But, can I use that sentence in an affirmative way?
It would be as if he knew my answer cause he had
asked me about if I did mind that on other occassions before.
He really knew I didnīt mind.

Can I? Thanks again!

Jesús.

Hi again! I donīt know if I made myself understood before.

With that sentence I am trying to say that he doesnīt mind
that I throw my clothes on the floor.

That is what I am trying to say with
the verb "mind". Thatīs why I am
asking if I can use it with other personal pronouns.
Maybe Iīm not using it correctly.

I hope Iīll make myself understood.

Thanks!

Hi!. how are you? Thanks a lot again.

I still have another question about the verb īmindī?

1.- Can I say 'Do you mind if I smoke?' and 'Do you mind
me smoking?' to mean the same? Is there any difference?

And answer to this question could be:

2.- I donīt mind IT īcause I love smoking.

Do I need the pronoun or an object after mind?

3.- And... I was discussing the sentence īHe
doesnīt mind my throwing my clothes on the floorī
with a friend, and he says he would better use "THE
CLOTHES" instead of "MY CLOTHES". Isnīt the
usage of the possesive pronoun MY used correctly here?

Thanks a lot!!

The second one is colloquial, or informal English.

1. Do you mind if I smoke?
2. Do you mind me smoking? <informal>
3. Do you mind my smoking? <formal>

The difference is this. In 1., you are asking about something you are doing or going to do. In 2. you are asking about a think, smoking.

Possible replies:
No, I don't mind if you smoke.
No, I don't mind if you do.
No, I don't mind at all.
No, I don't mind.
No, I don't care.
No. Smoking doesn't bother me.
No. It doesn't bother me.
No. Go ahead.
Feel free.

These are correct:

3a. He doesn't mind my throwing my clothes on the floor.
3b. He doesn't mind my throwing the clothes on the floor.
