I would like to know the word which relates to the Title question. I believe there are three towns/suburbs in Australia where their names are spelt the same backwards as they are spelt forwards. Two of these names I know, they are:- Glenelg - a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia and Tumut - a town in the south western or Riverina district of New South Wales. I would like to know the name of the third town or suburb and if three is the correct number. Sincerely yours, Jack Tansey

Words which are spelt the same both backwards and forwards are called palindromes.

A famous one (not in English, though) was the byzantine "ΝΙΨΟΝ ΑΝΟΜΗΜΑΤΑ ΜΗ ΜΟΝΑΝ ΟΨΙΝ", which means "wash your sins, not only your face"
