| Hi sharon Of course it is a past tense verb, you may want to substitute another word or words to understand the meaning. It resulted in fogging my mind or The actions fogged my mind Here the pronoun It refers to some sort of actions the resulting feeling of fog in the mind, which made them forget the warnings.
