"distant"...time or place? Could you tell me:
what does "distant" mean in the following sentence?
Lots of adidas names: Tim Henman， David Beckham， Ivan Lendl， Zinedine Zidane， Alessandro del Piero， plus plenty of east European field athletes seen at distant Olympic competitions.
Olympic competitions held in countries distant from Germany, the birthplace of Adidas, or Olympic competitions held long time ago?

Teacher Re: "distant"...time or place? In this case, "distant" means a long distance away, or a far away place.
