Default love of the country or love to the country

If a person was asked to write about love of the country or love to the country, which of both should she choose?

Are it privileged and high position, refering to government equivalent?

Is take down a phr v appropriate to describe a building falling?

Is turned off equivalent to put off?

thanks for your answers guys!!
