.."his character was tested.."- subject :character; verb: was tested [passive]
.."he was sitting..." -subject: he ; verb: was sitting [past tense continuous of the verb "sit"]
Or put it another way :
"He was sitting in the ordinary plane...only minutes before his character was tested.." |
