(Meaning: I and my ex-wife adopted him)

That wasn't what the sentence was supposed to mean.
The sentence is supposed to mean:
The son I and my ex-wife adopted (persumably when she was my wife) comes here every day.
To tell you the truth, I think 1 is just wrong. I read something like that somewhere, but I don't think it works.
