Smile Sentence Corrections Needed

What's wrong with the following sentences?
  1. Please pass a sugar to his coffee.
  2. Please pass to him a sugar to his coffee.
  3. Locked away in a case, I was surprised to find my key.
  4. Locked away the case, I was surprised to find my key.
Extra:
Is "the" the only definite article?

Thanks!

Post Re: Sentence Corrections Needed

Would it be correct if i change "to" to "for"?

Or can you tell me what's wrong with "to" in grammar? I have no idea why you highlight "to".

Thank you.

That's correct. "for" is the right choice.

1. Locked away in a case, I was surprised to find my key.
=> It means, you were locked away in a case.

2. Searching in a locked case, I find my key surprisingly.
=> It means, you were inside a locked case and seaching.
=> 'find' should be 'found'.
=> Try, While searching in an unlocked case, ...

3. Locking away in a case, I was surprised to find my key.
=> Again, you were locking away in a case.
=> 'locking away' is incorrect. You lock away something

4. I was surprised to find my key which is locked away in a case.
=> was ... was locked
=> no need for 'which was'.
