ok when a sentence is using a past tense verb ?Originally Posted by Red5
OK, a few principles of tag questions.ok when a sentence is using a past tense verb ?
1. In most cases, use a negative tag after a positive statement and a positive tag after a negative statement.
ex: John is a good boy (positive), isn't he (negative)?
John wasn't there (negative), was he (positive)?
2. When the verb is a from of "to be", use the same verb in the tag (as above).
3. In most cases when the verb is other than "to be", use "does/doesn't in the present tense and "did/didn't" in the past tense.
ex: John drives well (present positive), doesn't he (present negative)?
John doesn't eat much (present negative), does he (present positive)?
John didn't rob the bank (past negative), did he (past positive)?
John kicked the field goal (past positive), didn't he (past negative)?
