anymore-no more
Hello, how are you?
Thanks for all your replies!
1.- I donīt love you 'anymore'
2.- I donīt love you 'no more'
Are both of them correct to mean that "I was in love
with someone in the past but not at present"?
Thanks a million!
All the best!

Re: anymore-no more
Yeah, that's right. Indeed it's "any more" -two words. You also can use "any longer" (at the end of the sentence) and "no longer" (in the middle of the sentence).

Re: anymore-no more
Jesule, the 2nd sentence is not correct - there can't be 2 negatives. People do say so, but it's bad grammar.

Re: anymore-no more
Yes; there is a difference:
1. I don't love you any more. ] Standard English.
2. I don't love you no more. ] Non-standard English.
All the best,

Re: anymore-no more
The first sentence is correct.
The second one is not correct because there are two negations:
I don`t love you no more - double negation

Wouldn't Americans write "anymore" here, because here it's used as an adverb?

Re: anymore-no more
And many British speakers too.

But is it non-standard to write "anymore" as one word in British English?

Re: anymore-no more
Hello Dihen
This Oxford online dictionary gives "anymore" as BrE also, so it seems to be standard now:
Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary - enter "Anymore"

Re: anymore-no more
As far as I know we can say either "I don't love you anymore" or "I love you no more", then both would be correct and mean the same. Still the first choice, the first sentence, is a neutral way of saying it and the second has a more emphatic tone.
Is that it?
