Indefinite article
"Sometimes it's part of the job." -- Is it correct not to put an indefinite article before "part"?
Thanks,

Re: Indefinite article
Hi, Niggus,
I’m vy glad you’ve raised this question; I’ve also been wondering what is there so special abt part, why no article. Logically, it is countable. Here’s LDOCE: PART
▶PIECE◀
[countable] a piece or feature of something such as an object, area, event, or period of time
Are there any qualified grammarians here to explain that, please?

Re: Indefinite article
Hi, Nyggus!
You can put an article or no article in front of 'part'. Here are some examples.
I only ate part of my slice of cake. (no article)
I did the part of the project that Mary-Anne was supposed to do. (definate article)
A part of the asteroid crashed into the building. (indefinate article)
You can change some parts (some is an indefinate article) of my examples, such as the nouns, as long as it makes sense.
