I am making a formal direction for a writing assignment.

What do you think of the following direction? I would like to make it formal.

I am wondering if all directional expressions should be OK.

Directions:

1.Write an English essay on the following topic, or you can choose
one at your will.
2. For your writing, you may refer to the Brainstorming booklet.
3. Your essay should be about 300-words.
4. Use examples for each body paragraph.
