Default A question about the use of "as to..."

Could someone please clarify the use of "as to..."?

What I'd specifically like to know is whether "as to..." should strictly be followed by a noun or whether a noun clause is also acceptable.

To exemplify; are the sentences below correct or not

As to why I didn't enjoy the party, there were too many people I didn't know.

As to the reason why I didn't enjoy the party, there were too many people I didn't know.

Thanks!

Hello Batmura, welcome to UE!

Yes, both those sentences are fine. A noun, a noun phrase, or a complete clause can serve as the object of "as to".

All the best,
