Default truthful / true

What is the difference between adjectives "truthful" and "true"? In which meanings can I use them?

(btw, did I write the sentence (In which meanings can I use them?) correctly? )

TRUTHFUL - habitually or actually telling what one believes to be true [ Chambers Dictionary-2001]
e.g.
What he says is true. He is being truthful.
It is a true descriptionof what happened. The newspaper report is truthful.
The musicians were true to the original music of Beethoven. Their interpretation was truthful.

If I tell you that it is raining here now I am being truthful- I am telling you the truth. The fact that it is raining is true.

All the best,
