An old question.. go vs going to...

Hello guys!!!!

I remember have seen a post in which someone says that English is so difficult...and sometimes when you have studied hard, suddenly forget many things and it seems that you need studying all again!. Well that is my problem...

Could someone tell me which of both sentences is right?

Did you go to the party?

or

Were you going to the party?

And what about these ones...?

I'm tired. I go home...

or

I'm tired. I'm going home..

Did you go to the party - it's only about the fact.
I'm going home - the action is taking place now or soon.

Did you go to the party [yesterday/ two days ago.etc]?-- it`s correct. It is an independent sentence -the verb is in the past tense simple

Were you going to the party?- it is a correct but still unfinished sentence- the verb is in the past tense continuous .

Were you going to the party while she was going downtown?
Were you going to the party when I saw you yesterday?


I`m tired. I am going home. - present tense continuous used for and action/activity taking place at the moment of speaking

Whenever I`m tired [of hard work] I go home to take a rest.-habitual activity
