Hello.... Could someone explain to me what are the differences between these 2 sentences, please?

1. I was sleeping....
2. i slept....


I was Sleeping show I am in the process sleeping, how about i slept? what does it indicates?

I slept last night so I couldn't see the match.

Not necessarily. Sleeping, in this case, is the progressive tense of the verb to sleep. It indicates an ongoing action and requires some sort of helping verb.
I was sleeping when you called.
I should be sleeping by the time you get home.
I might have been sleeping when the neighbors came over.
I will not be sleeping until I finish this.

Slept is just the simple past of the verb to sleep.
I slept on the couch.
He slept in a hotel.
They slept until noon.
