Hello, I came across this "L7" idiom and understood the meaning of it but I'm interested in the origin of this idiom. Do you know the whole story why "L7" means what it means? Thank you.

L7 means "square," as in someone who is not hip or cool, someone that is always behind the trends. (If you write down a capital letter L with a numeral 7 very close next to it, it forms a square. You can also form an L7 square using the thumb and index fingers of both hands.)
