Default Use of etc. in writing

Hi teachers,

Yesterday we went to the zoo and we saw lots of lions, tigers, elephants, etc.Yesterday we went to the zoo and we saw lots of lions, tigers, elephants... etc.

Which one is better/more correct? With three dots or without them?
