Default first and last name in plural

I asked before about a quite similar sentence. I heard it on the "Purple Rivers" film with Jean Reno (in French version however).

So how would it be in English:

They teach there - at that university - the future ____ (Bill Gates in plural)

Would you consider "the" before "future" necessary in this sentence?

Thanks and have a nice weekend everyone.
