what figure of speech would "The garden is a rainbow of colors" be in the sentance; The garden is a rainbow of colors with over ten varieties of rose bushes and many other flowers such as tulips, merigolds, snapdragons, zinnias, and wildflowers.
Hi there
I think there is simile, the garden with its beautiful flowers looks like the rainbow.
It`s a simile - a figure of speech in which two subjects are compared.Originally Posted by Unregistered0489

I'd say it's a metaphor as it doesn't make a comparison but says that one thing is another.![]()
Yes, you are right , tdol. I haven`t been attentive while reading it.
I thought it was :" The garden is like a rainbow..." ; in fact it`s : "The garden is a rainbow.."
If the sentence were "the garden is a like a rainbow.." could it be a simile?
I don`t know if the previous sentence is grammatically correct; it caused me a real headache
Thank you
For me:
The garden is a rainbow = metaphor
The garden is like a rainbow = simile

Thank you,tdol.
