    Dear sir/madam,
    I would like to know how i can end a formal letter after confirming my
    assessment day/date.

    If the addressee's name is in the greeting, close with 'Sincerely yours'; if it is addressed to 'Dear Sir', then close with 'Yours faithfully'. This is a formal and rather restrictive guideline, but it cannot be gainsaid.
