Please check my grammar in these sentence. If you have any suggestion to make the sentence better, please feel free to comment.

On July 31st, while completing a presentation on how to write an application and cover letter, I discussed the purpose, need, and proper methods for composing an effective application letter.

I also provide some tips for effective writing to be included in an application letter. I broke it down into an ABC method to make writing an application letter easier such as addressing and opening, body, and closing.
