cutemina1211 is on a distinguished road
Default plz. is it grammatically corect?

In the eighteenth century, it is said not many women who had access to formal education in the colonies.
In this sentence 'it is said' seems somewhat grammatically incorrect.
but I don't know why and how it can be corrected.
Please help me.

You can say:
It is said that [They say that] not many women had access to formal education in the colonies in the XVIIIth century.
