| 1. This question is addressed to both English natives and also to all members of this site no matter what nationality they are. Please feel free to give your opinion on the following question . What is the most important place / building etc. a tourist should visit or see when in London for the first time? Is it Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey..or..? 2. | Hello Teia I would prefer to see Trafalgar Sq. Then there's something interesting in all directions (Soho, Covent Garden, etc.). "Trafalgar" is usually pronounced with the stress on "-fal-". The first "-a-" and the "-ar" are schwas; the "-al-" is pronounced with a short a, as in the "al" in words of Arabic origin. (I feel I've made that more complicated than it needed to be!)
