Is there a differeence between the following sentences?

Write me soon.
Write to me soon.

Are they both correct? If yes, can we use nouns instead of personal pronouns in both ways?

Hi , You can say write to me soon or write soon --- not write me soon

Write me soon is a very common construction in AE, but is never used in BE.
