Can we say:
I wasn't at all sure if I would readapt to studying.?
I've read this sentence on a book, but as far as I know we should say:
I wasn't at all sure If I readapted / I had readapted to studying.
Can you give me some similar examples of this usage of the present conditional after "if"?
Is it some form of FUTURE IN THE PAST(which always and only occurs in reported speech as a rule) like in:
"I will go home after having finished to watch the movie"
that in reported sppech becomes:
She said she would go home after having finished to watch the movie.
and not
She said she went/ had gone home after having finished to watch the movie.
Is there any relation ?
Thx for all in advance.
It is a form of the future in the past- the person didn't know until they started the course. It doesn't only occur in reported speech, but can be used in any past text when an action was in the future at the time of the narrative.
Tdol, can you give me some examples of usage of the future in the past without an introductive reporting verb?
Thank you very much in advance
