| I am at a loss – which is correct: a) I can’t get used to working at night (from 11 p.m. till 6 a.m.) b) I can’t get used to working by night. c) I can’t get used to working in the night. When is each of them used? Would be grateful for your help. |

I have not heard it used in the sense of until a certain time, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is common to other native speakers. Phrases like "travelling by night" and "working day by day" are very common. In your example I think 1 and 3 are the best. |

I would use in the daytime or during the day, but see no problem with by day. |
