I don not find the word "monthlong" in my dictionary. I guess it means something that lasts 1 month. Corrrect?
If so, do the words "yearlong, weeklong, centurylong" exist? I've found it on a reliable site: CNN.com |
It's a composite word, and so should be written as 'month-long'. The others are also acceptable, provided a hyphen is used. None of them have reached the level of common usage required to justify omission of the hyphen, but writers often take shortcuts (no hyphen required), even those writing for reliable sites like CNN.
