Default Does this sound awkward?

Please see the following short conversation...

Q: Why don't we let the staff memebers see our design?

A: No, I didn't get to look at it yet.

Does above answer sound awkward?

That conversation is part of the English Test. That answer was

the false answer. But it sounds OK for me.

What do you think?

in my opinion ,the answer should be ---No ,I have not got to look at it yet

AE speakers would possibly consider the answer to be correct, because they often use the past simple tense in this way. BE speakers would say it is very wrong and would reply "I haven't looked at it yet", using the present perfect tense.
