Thumbs down listening skills

hey, anyone here can give me some hints on how to improve my listening skills?? especially listening to american conversations, its so hard!!!! i can hardly make out what they're saying.... any advice will be highly appreciated

as you know practice makes perfect. just practice. start with simple listening books and then try the harder ones.

wat about listening to music without the lyrics?? i think that helps but its hard sometimes
