Is this the right sentence to use after making the purchase and the cashier paid you a dollar more ? And what the native speaker normally say in this situation. Of course, only when they don't walk away :)

I would say, "You gave me a dollar too much." That is, I think, the most likely possibility.

In BE we can say 'a dollar over' colloquially.
