revanchist--having to do with a political policy designed to recover lost territory or status

Nobel peace laureate Carter also expressed support for land-locked Bolivia's revanchist dreams of acquiring access to the sea by regaining lost territory from Chile and Peru. In Caracas, President Chavez revealed he "had dreams of swimming on a Bolivian beach."

obituary (pl.--obituaries)--a summary of a person's life, highlighting the most notable events in that person's life. Obituaries note the passing of someone who has been newsworthy.

The year-end obituaries have paid due homage to the national icons, the rich and famous, the talented and not so. But there really ought to be obituaries not just for people but for the qualities they represented.
