Default Difference between "admit" and "Confess"

Could you please let me know the difference between these two words with example.

"Admit" and "Confess"

Confess has religious connotations- Catholics go to confession, so people tend to use confess in such cases. Admit can be used for simple accepteance of the truth- people admit they are wrong, meaning that they realise and understand this.

In addition to sins, people confess crimes, weaknesses, faults or they confess to things. I confess to never having studied for that test.
