I've been told that there is a difference in meaninig between the pairs of sentences but I cannot find it. Could you help?
1. "The person's name cannot be revealed for legal reasons.
"For legal resons, the person's name cannot be revealed.
2. "We ate fruits for lunch."
"We ate fruit for lunch"
1. There is no difference to my ear in the meaning of those two sentences.
2. "We ate fruit" means we ate 'fruit' in general - it might be one single fruit, several pieces of the same fruit, or different fruits.
"We ate fruits" means we ate different kinds of fruits - apples, oranges, grapes, etc.
