COMPLETE EACH SENTENCE WITH AN APPROPRIATE DEMONSTRATIVE ADJECTIVE.
1. THE KING'S MUMMY WORE _________MASK OF SOLID GOLD.
(THIS, THAT, THESE, THOSE)

2. PRIESTS HID ________PRECIOUS JEWELS IN THE PHARAOH'S BURIAL
CLOTH. (THIS, THAT, THESE, THOSE)

3. DO YOU WANT TO VISIT ________TEMPLE OF THE NEW KINGDOM.
(THIS, THAT, THESE, THOSE)

4. HOWARD CARTER'S CANARY WAS EATEN BY _______POISONOUS SNAKE. (THIS, THAT, THESE, THOSE)

5. THE HASTY THIEVES LOST ______ GOLD RINGS (THESE, THOSE)

I would put a in the blank, but if I had to use one of the choices given I would choose this, as it makes the most sense. However, that is also possible.

I think this and that are equally valid choices there. (Which word is used depends on context.)

In these examples it is unclear whether the objects are close or far, so I agree with Ron. They don't really test this\that.
