Default What is the linguistic theory?

Hello teachers,
I would like to know the answers to the two questions, that are:
(1)What is the linguistic theory?
(2)To become a linguistic, what do I need to learn?
Please tell me. Thank you very much.
Have a good time!

There are many schools of thought in linguistics, so there is no single theory. To become a linguist, I would suggest that you first looked into whether you are interested in pure or applied linguistics and to take it from there.

I think there is no school of thought in linguistics in my country, Myanmar. Can you give me an example for school. What are pure linguistics and applied linguistics?
Have a good time!
