Hi to all,
Please help me understand how to use these:
- in which
- wherein
Are they the same? If not, please give some examples that will prove they are not.
Thanks.
'wherein' is formal and used less.
Hello Tdol,
Does this mean that I should use 'in which' instead of wherein in speaking?
Another question, I have read from one of the articles on the Web that 'in which' is used to point out a time and place. For example:
- The country in which I live in......
- The day in which I left.......
Is it only limited to the time and place? Please give me some examples so that I can clearly understand this.
Thanks.
Wherein - "excessively formal" Merriam-Webster's Dictinoary of English Usage; "slightly pretentious" Columbia Guide to Standard American English
Replace with in what way, where, or in which.
I live in Myanmar country. (sentence)
Myanmar country which I live in (noun) is situated in Southeast Asia.
Myanmar country in which I live (noun)is situated in Southeast Asia.
Myanmar country where I live (noun) is situated in Southeast Asia.
I write the sentences above like this:
Myanmar country wherein I live is situated in Southeast Asia.,am I right?
Have a good time!
Thanks guys.
