Smile can indirect object be a thing?

some verbs, such as give, send, bring, requires indirect and direct object.right? my question is can indirect object be a thing?
for example,

I gave the proposal my full support. Does it make sense? as far as I know the indirect object should be people, such as
i have him my full support. what is your opinion?

Yes, an indirect object can be a thing. Your sentence is perfect English.

I (subject) took (verb) my work (direct object) home (indirect object).

We do it all the time
