    Smile Please correct me

    Hi,

I m a french student speaking very badly English. However, I'd like to speak and undestand this language.

I propose than I write some sentences about something and it would be super if you could correct me.

    So,

I'm 21, I live in France and I'm a student. But I think there is a great problem in the french educational system with english. Actually, we spent 7 or 8 years in schools having some english teachers but we are almost incapable of speaking english!!
Last year, I met some German students who were already bilinguals in english, so they were learning French as a third language.
Consequently, I'm watching some american soap operas on my computer, I'm reading some newspapers and doing some Toeic test.
But, a have a great lake of practice, that s why I'm trying to write my situation.

If anyone among you would like to help me, I'll be really thankful.

    Thank you.
    John

I think that your English is not as bad as you think it is. I understood everything you said. Most of your mistakes (like all language students) is that you rely on word-for-word translations from your native language. Look at the differences between your paragraph and mine. I will try to use your own words as much as possible.

I'm a 21 year old student living in France. I think there is a big problem with the way English is taught in the French educational system. We spend 7 or 8 years getting instruction from English teachers, but we are almost incapable of speaking English! Last year I met some German students who were already fluent in English and were learning French as a third language. Consequently, I'm watching some American soap operas on my computer, reading some American newspapers, and doing some Toeic tests.

*Sorry, but this last sentence didn't really make sense to me*
