put up the chair?

Dr Phil said something like "If Your daughter told me that she was interested in boys I'd put up the chair" At least that's how I heard him to say it.
Did I mishear it or is it some american saying and what does it mean?

Never heard such, Archie. How about put up a cheer (= demonstrate joy) or pull up a chair (= sit down and discuss it at length)?

When I watch TV, I check the spoken language against the subtitles and it meant something like "to pay very close attention to smthg" or "to listen very carefully".He repeated it twice so I tried to listen it very carefully so thought that it might be an idiom that was new to me but so far haven't found it on any dictionary.Maybe it's another case of misheard words.
