plural

I thought that one has to use plural always when it is talked about more people, subjects etc.

Is that true?
I don't understand, why the sentence below wasn't written with the plural of "uniform".

"Nurses have to wear a uniform." <= I'd rather say "They have to wear uniforms."

You don't have to use the plural if it is clear: we all know that each nurse wears one uniform. If you want better style, do as you have done and match plural with plural.

If all of them had the same decision before changing that decision, then we will use "They changed their mind." However, if they all had different thoughts and later on modified their individual thoughts, then we will use "They changed heir minds."

Or, at least, that's how I understand it.
