Exclamation Any with sing. countable nouns

I believe that we usually use any with plural countable nouns, but I'd like to know why we can use any in this case:

Is there any good movie on TV tonight?

Any is one of the indefinite pronouns that can be singular or plural depending on the noun it is describing. It can be used with singular, plural, countable, and uncountable nouns.

Are there any coins left in the box?

Is there any money left in the box?

Is there any reason why you can't go?

Are there any people who can help?

Your sample sentence is not standard English.

Are there any good movies on TV tonight?

Good show! I simply adore a concise, pithy explanation of English grammar!
